**The Role**
As an EL 1 Assistant Director within Financial Compliance Assurance you will:

- Manage allocated resources, set work area priorities, manage workflows, develop strategies and evaluate business outcomes.
- Be accountable for managing and leading a team including outcomes, clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility while guiding and developing people.
- Be accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements, sharing your expertise with others while guiding and monitoring less experienced employees.
- Monitor, maintain and evaluate the risk profile and effectiveness of financial compliance activities within Defence Finance Group to develop and implement Financial Compliance Assurance strategy.

**About our Team**
The Financial Compliance Assurance team provides assurance of Defence’s compliance with relevant financial policy and legislation. The team applies a risk-based approach to its strategic objectives, leveraging automation and data analytics to identify items for investigation.

The team also provides advice to DFG and other stakeholders on enhancing Defence’s financial control environment.
- A sound knowledge of financial controls and processes or similar frameworks.
- A sound knowledge of risk management principles and control effectiveness assessment techniques.
- An understanding of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act and its related instruments.
- Strong initiative and sound judgement.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
