**Role**:

- **Learning Engagement**: Work inside and outside of classrooms with students, identify student learning needs and liaise with teachers accordingly. Deliver one to one and small group learning support, directed by the teacher. Deliver one to one curriculum programs, based on student data, targeting individuals’ identified area(s) of need.
- **School Climate**:Support the development of a more inclusive school environment through means such as regular student audits and collaborative policy development. Provide African cultural awareness to both staff and students in support of better communication between families, staff, and students.
- **Family Engagement**: Establish and maintain relationships with community members and school staff to meet the needs of the students of African backgrounds. Support the inclusive delivery of external and existing school programs by creating an intentionally welcoming environment specifically for the target language group.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support teachers’ general communication with students.
- Facilitate teaching of groups of students and individual students in classrooms under teacher’s direction.
- Collaborate with teachers.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum programs based off data to support target students.
- Assist with student support, mentoring & engagement.
- Participate in activities such as enrolment interviews; parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions.
- Support staff to develop their knowledge of the students’ backgrounds and the issues they face.
- Help school staff to invite and involve parents in school activities and programs.
- Translate basic school notices and communications to the local community.
- Undertake other classroom related and organisational duties as determined by the principal.

**Location Profile**:
Tarneit P-9 College is situated in the western suburbs of Melbourne in the local area of Wyndham. Our College was established in 2013, commencing with an enrolment of 331 students. Tarneit P-9 College currently has over 2300 students enrolled for 2023. The Secondary sector of the College is currently experiencing rapid growth. There are over 900 students currently enrolled in Secondary. Over the next 3 Years we predict these numbers will continue to grow.
