**The Opportunity**
- The Communications Lead (Centres and Research) is responsible for working with the School's Centre for Sustainability and Business, and Centre for Business Analytics, to strengthen their engagement with key stakeholders, as well as for translating and promoting research by the School's broader faculty in disciplines such as operations, finance, management, marketing, strategy and economics.

You will also work with the Associate Dean, Research to identify research that is suitable for external communication, work with academics to translate their research for non-academic audiences, and communicate that research in a clear and compelling way using a variety of channels and formats including stories, video, social media and media coverage.
- This is a newly-created position that would suit an experienced research communicator or journalist. Reporting to the Brand Engagement Director, you will work within a team of creative storytellers that includes several former journalists. To succeed in this role, you will need to build positive relationships with academic stakeholders, and be able to understand, translate and communicate the most relevant parts of academic research with a high degree of accuracy.

- Some key accountabilities will also include:

- Guide the development of communications strategies for our centres of excellence to boost engagement with key stakeholders, ensuring that these strategies also align with the School's broader engagement strategy\
- Earn positive media coverage in business, sustainability and analytics publications by building relationships with key journalists and proactively pitching stories and interviews
- Advise and assist centres in the planning, development and promotion of thought leadership activities, such as major whitepapers or reports
- Provide specialist support to centre staff in the areas of proofreading, editing, developing key messages and preparing for media interviews
- Produce content such as stories, videos, infographics and social media posts for School channels that explain research to non-academic audiences in everyday language
- Ensure that your content is clear and compelling, while also being technically accurate and faithful to the research in question
- Take ownership of planning, managing and ensuring the successful publication of content where it requires the involvement of additional staff such as designers, video editors or photographers

**About You**
- You will enjoy working with new ideas and be passionate about the power of clear, simple and engaging communication. You will also have strong experience gained within a communications, public relations, advancement, corporate affairs, marketing or similar role in a university, higher education or research setting. You will be able to demonstrate previous success communicating and promoting academic research for non-academic audiences in an engaging way. Some experience producing, publishing and managing content through digital channels such as websites and social media will also be essential. Undergraduate qualifications gained within a related discipline will complement your skills and experience.
