- A great opportunity exists for a skilled and enthusiastic media and communications practitioner to join a small team providing media and communications support and advice to all areas of Mercy Health (health, aged care and corporate). This is an exciting time to join our organisation as we continue to push out great stories about our organisation and continue to respond to the challenges of the pandemic. We are looking for someone with lots of initiative, a story teller, a strong writer and a team player.
- The role is a full time, permanent role based at our Support Services office in Richmond
- Will seek out public relations opportunities across all areas of our organisation but will also at times contend with potentially robust media enquiries
- Will monitor media across health services and aged care, and will update and provide media advice to Mercy Health’s Executive and Management team whenever appropriate
- Will produce appropriate and accurate media releases
- Is able to develop content to be syndicated across all channels (external websites, social media and internal communications platforms)
- The role requires some on-call weekend media work
**ABOUT YOU**:
- We are looking for someone with tertiary qualifications or who is able to demonstrate significant experiences working in media and/or communications fields
- You may have worked as a journalist or in a role where you regularly provided media advice
- The role requires you to understand the 24/7 news cycle and to understand the workings of the best known social media platforms - you will also have strong writing skills
- You will already possess some media relationships whether at a regional, state or national level
- Most of all, we are looking for a story-teller, someone who is interested in finding strong health and aged care stories and is able to pitch them to relevant and appropriate media outlets
- We also require a self-starter, someone with lots of energy and enthusiasm and is keen to work in a small team, which aims to produce great outcomes
**ABOUT US**:
- Mercy Health is a Catholic organisation grounded in a 2,000-year tradition of caring for others. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Health is made up of more than 9,500 people who provide acute and subacute hospital care, aged care, mental health programs, maternity and specialist women’s health services, early parenting services, home care services and health worker training and development.

- offering benefits such as generous salary packaging, purchased leave, career progression and development opportunities, access to health and wellbeing programs and a range of discounts across a diverse portfolio of financial, healthcare, travel and other services.
