**What is a Parks Maintenance Officer for Hume?**

Working as part of the City Parks and Open Spaces department the Parks Maintenance Officer is responsible for managing municipal open space assets by maintaining and improving parks and reserves.

Duties of a Parks Maintenance Officer might include:

- Maintain and improve designated areas, grounds, surrounds, reserves, streetscapes and recreation areas.
- To work as part of a team in improving and maintaining Council parks, reserves and open spaces utilising safe and efficient work practices:

- Assist in the gathering of data for performance indicators.
- Drive a motor vehicle in a safe and competent manner and in accordance with relevant road laws and regulations.

**About You**

As a Parks Maintenance Officer you will have demonstrable skills and qualifications including but not limited to:

- Progress toward achieving Certificate III or higher qualification in Horticulture or related discipline.
- Demonstrated relevant knowledge and experience in the safe operation and maintenance of Tractors, Front Deck mowers, Wide Area Mowers, Trucks and associated plant and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to work individually and in a team environment to achieve team goals and objectives.
- Experience in maintaining and further improving parks, reserves and horticultural assets.
- Good communication skills in dealing with staff, contractors and stakeholders.
- Capacity to identify improvement opportunities across Council assets.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and monitor works programs.
- Demonstrated experience in organising equipment for set tasks.
- Medium Rigid Truck Licence.
- Traffic Control Roadwork Signage Attainment preferable.
