**About the role**

The Student Learning Advisor works collaboratively with the Academic Services team in the development and provision of learning support to the diverse student body. This includes students at all levels of study within the university: Foundation Studies, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate.

This role is responsible for development and implementation of strategies to equip students with appropriate tertiary study skills, language enhancement, transitioning international students to study in an Australian learning environment, academic integrity, and at-risk student intervention.

Additionally, the SLA will have a teaching role within the Pathway programs, and will contribute to providing high quality programs by ensuring their teaching is engaging and innovative to facilitate successful student experiences and outcomes.

**The person we seek will ideally have the following**:

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and experience in a related role within higher education industry
- Qualification in teaching, and demonstrated ability to deliver classes in an engaging, supportive, and technology-rich environment
- Demonstrated experience in the development and provision of supports to students that facilitate effective study skills
- Sound and informed knowledge of current pedagogical practices
- Demonstrated experience in working closely with students from diverse backgrounds, and across a range of disciplines in learning and language support
- Demonstrated deep understanding of academic integrity
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision, and to manage conflicting priorities

**Highly Desirable**:

- Qualification and experience in teaching students English as a second language
