Be part of a Local Council as a Coordinator Financial Accounting, you will pay a key part in the budget/long term financial plan, forecast and monthly reporting processes.
- 6-month contract (with a possible extension to 12 months)
- Based in Abbotsford, VIC
- Pay rate: $59.79 - $67.00 per hour, depending on experience.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the integrity of the general ledge, Council's statutory financial reporting obligations and management of Council's accounts payable/receivable systems and processes
- Team management
- Ensure the internal control environment is regularly reviewed
- Manage Council's taxation obligations and cash flow, including investments and borrowings.
- Provide leadership to the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Financial Accounting teams in the provision of high quality financial and statutory reporting and efficient and effective financial operations.
- Work collaboratively across the Financial Services Branch and contribute to the operational success of the Branch and Council

**Requirements and Qualifications**
- Ability to interpret legislation, Acts and Accounting standards.
- Taxation knowledge, including Goods and Services Tax and Fringe Benefit Tax.
- Experience in developing finance and accounting policy.
- Proficient in the use of computerised accounting systems including spreadsheet software.
- Understanding of legal, socio-economic, and political context.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting and/or Financial Management with relevant experience plus post graduate qualifications, or qualifications /experience in another field or lesser formal qualifications with extensive and diverse experience, or intensive specialist experience.
- Membership of a recognised Accounting body (CA/CPA).
- Previous experience in a similar role will be highly regarded, but not essential.
