Be part of a Local Council as a Coordinator Financial Accounting, you will pay a key part in the budget/long term financial plan, forecast and monthly reporting processes.


  • 6month contract (with a possible extension to 12 months)
  • Based in Abbotsford, VIC
  • Pay rate: $ $67.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the integrity of the general ledge, Council's statutory financial reporting obligations and management of Council's accounts payable/receivable systems and processes
  • Team management
  • Ensure the internal control environment is regularly reviewed
  • Manage Council's taxation obligations and cash flow, including investments and borrowings.
  • Provide leadership to the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Financial Accounting teams in the provision of high quality financial and statutory reporting and efficient and effective financial operations.
  • Work collaboratively across the Financial Services Branch and contribute to the operational success of the Branch and Council

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Ability to interpret legislation, Acts and Accounting standards.
  • Taxation knowledge, including Goods and Services Tax and Fringe Benefit Tax.
  • Experience in developing finance and accounting policy.
  • Proficient in the use of computerised accounting systems including spreadsheet software.
  • Understanding of legal, socioeconomic, and political context.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting and/or Financial Management with relevant experience plus post graduate qualifications, or qualifications /experience in another field or lesser formal qualifications with extensive and diverse experience, or intensive specialist experience.
  • Membership of a recognised Accounting body (CA/CPA).
  • Previous experience in a similar role will be highly regarded, but not essential.
