The role
The Statutory Reporting and Policy team provides advice and support at a whole of agency consolidated level to the various program and business areas on the agency's statutory reporting requirements, processes and obligations. In accordance with the statutory requirements of the Financial Accountability Act 2009 and other relevant Acts, Schedules and policies, its functional responsibilities include the project management and preparation of the annual financial statements plus directing, advising and reporting on all Departmental taxation matters to ensure compliance.

The focus of the team is on developing and implementing financial management and accounting policies and procedures, along with effectively communicating and working with the Financial Systems and Services stream to deliver required training programs. In addition, this function will co-ordinate the systems assurance activities as part of the agency's financial internal control framework and as required for the Chief Finance Officer.

As the Manager, Financial Governance and Policy, you will be responsible for developing and implementing key strategic framework, policies and processes to ensure that an appropriate Financial Internal Control Framework is implemented effectively and efficiently.

What you will be doing
- Providing high level professional and strategic advice and direction to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and service areas in relation to the Financial Internal Control Framework and compliance.
- Developing and managing the delivery of the annual Financial Services governance and compliance work plan to support the CFO Assurance statement as required by the Financial Accountability Act 2009.
- Developing and implementing communication and training activities to support the Financial Internal Control Framework.
- Being responsible for the maintenance of the Financial Services Risk Management Framework.
- Leading and collaborating with key stakeholders in the development and maintenance of appropriate financial delegations and contributing to the continuous improvement of the department's delegation's framework.
- Leading the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Financial Management Practice Manual and associated financial management and accounting policies and guidelines, as they relate to the internal control framework, including working with the Financial Systems and Services stream to deliver required training programs.
- Building the capability of staff to meet current and future demands through effective coaching, mentoring and the implementation of professional development strategies.
- Developing strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, conducive to the sharing of relevant financial information and advice on a range of issues.
- Leading the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, including data analytics, as these relate to the CFO Financial Internal Control Framework and assurance environment for the agency.
