**The opportunity**:
Join our dynamic team as a Biostatistician and contribute to cutting-edge research in Bayesian adaptive trial designs, with a focus on adaptive platform trials. Reporting to the Director of the Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics Unit (CEBU), you will play a key role in designing, analyzing, and reporting on various adaptive platform trials, providing direct contributions to trial conduct, analysis, and publication.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with researchers at the MCRI, ViCBiostat, and AusTriM, contributing to both methodological and applied trial design. Specifically, you will lead the ongoing design, analysis, and reporting of adaptive platform trials at the Royal Children’s Hospital, including trials in sepsis management and perinatal medicine. You will also have the opportunity to develop statistical research interests in the design and analysis of adaptive trials.

About your new team

As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop expertise in Bayesian methods and trial design, with a focus on advancing adaptive platform trial methodology. You will also contribute to CEBU’s training program by delivering short courses in biostatistics and statistical computing, and may have the chance to supervise postgraduate biostatisticians.

**Your responsibilities include**:
Providing in-depth statistical guidance and support to health professionals on adaptive trial design and analysis
Developing and evaluating statistical methods using theory, computer simulation studies, and critically evaluated case studies
Reading, interpreting, and synthesising recent statistical/methodological literature in specific areas.
Leading (a small number of) and contributing to (a much larger number of) scientific manuscripts based on the methodological and clinical research, respectively.
Demonstrating leadership capabilities in providing statistical support, and developing and addressing methodological research questions.

**What we need from you**:

- A PhD in biostatistics, statistics, or closely related discipline
- Experience working with health professionals in clinical trials
- Strong understanding of and technical competence with complex statistical models and methods.
- (Desired) Experience using version control systems such as Git and GitHub, and markdown languages such as Latex and RMarkdown
