Sydney, Australia NSW Government -Department of Customer Service Full time

Are you ready to make a significant impact and be part of a dynamic agency safeguarding the State's worker's compensation, motor accidents compulsory third party (CTP), and home building compensation schemes?

We have a thrilling opportunity for an exceptional Investigator with a proven background in regulatory and criminal investigation to join our Investigations Prosecutions team.

**About Us**:
Worker’s compensation and CTP insurance are the two largest injury insurance schemes in NSW, collectively providing an essential social safety net for more than 100,000 people injured at work or on the road in NSW each year. At any one time, almost 220,000 people are supported through these schemes following an injury in a workplace or on the road. The schemes are funded by 320,000 employers and 5.7 million vehicle owners, who together pay $6.8 billion in premiums each year.

As the peak insurance regulator and system steward, SIRA is focused on ensuring that people have access to the benefits and support they need to recover, return to work, or achieve the best possible quality-of-life outcome.

That role is balanced with ensuring that policies are affordable, and the schemes remain financially sustainable. SIRA was created under the State Insurance and Care Governance Act 2015.

Understand more about SIRA - here.

As a key player in our team, you'll play a pivotal role in elevating our investigative capability. We're dedicated to becoming a formidable regulator, driving positive behavioural change, and ensuring strict compliance across the schemes.

**About the role**:
Seize the opportunity to become an Investigator, spearheading efficient, innovative, and effective delivery of multi-faceted intelligence-led, risk-based investigation activities to ensure scheme integrity and protect scheme participants.

In this role, you'll conduct regular targeted proactive compliance programs while supporting fellow team members in honing their investigative skills and delivering compliance activities.

**In this role, you will**:

- Prepare and undertake complex compliance and investigation activities, delivering risk-based regulatory programs to enhance compliance.
- Undertake proactive compliance operations to stay ahead of potential issues.
- Provide specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders, maximizing regulatory outcomes and minimizing negative impacts on SIRA-regulated schemes.
- Stay up to date with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, setting a standard of exemplary regulatory practice for the NSW community.
- Gather, review, and maintain accurate records, documents, submissions, and reports, recommending appropriate actions to decision-makers while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
- Deliver innovative regulatory services, working tirelessly to protect the NSW community.

**To be successful in this role you will demonstrate**:

- Certificate IV (Government) Investigations or similar qualification.
- Significant experience in conducting high-quality complex investigations into fraud and/or industry misconduct, with a keen eye for operational risks.
- A track record of successfully conducting investigations and inspections, gathering evidence, and preparing prosecution briefs.
- Good knowledge of criminal law, rules of evidence, criminal procedures, and administrative law.
- Familiarity with electronic Investigation Case Management Systems, enhancing your efficiency and effectiveness.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effortlessly engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- A collaborative team player, adept at initiating, building, and maintaining productive working relationships.

**How to Apply**:
Please submit your CV for review (no more than 5 pages) and a cover letter (no more than 2 pages) demonstrating your capabilities for the role; and provide a response to the following questions (limited to 2 pages):
**Question 1**

Agencies will generally use an electronic investigation management system (IMS). What IMS systems have you used?

Can you elaborate on how you utilize the investigation management system to efficiently manage and conduct your investigations? How do you use the system to organize case details, collect evidence, track progress, collaborate with team members, and ensure the integrity and security of the investigative process?

**Question 2**

Can you describe a specific example of a time when you were tasked with investigating a complex matter? Please provide details about the case, including the nature of the matter being investigated. How did you approach and undertake the investigation, and what were the outcomes or results you achieved as a result of your investigative efforts?
