**Agency overview**

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) works to enable right to access justice, to help families, and to promote early intervention and inclusion, in order to provide benefits for the whole community. DCJ’s purpose is to help create a safe, just and inclusive NSW in which everyone has the opportunity to realise their potential.

The Strategy, Policy and Commissioning (SPC) division leads and contributes to the policy, strategy and data analytics work required across the departmental functions. These are wide-ranging and include leading the development and implementation of policy and strategy for child protection, out-of-home care (OOHC), domestic and family violence, sexual violence, people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, seniors, carers, multicultural communities, youth, volunteers, targeted early intervention, and crime prevention and diversion.

SPC’s data analytics teams include the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) and Family and Community Services Insights Analysis and Research (FACSIAR) which provide research and evaluation reports, cost modelling, reporting and operational reviews to identify trends to support evidence-based decision making across DCJ’s service delivery and policy functions.

**Your role**

The primary purpose of this role is to provide high level of administrative and operational support. This includes a range of project planning, development, reporting, implementation and coordination activities to support the effective delivery of projects.

**What you’ll do**

The Assistant Project Officer will be responsible for coordinating administrative delivery of programs/projects, including managing correspondence, liaising with stakeholders and reviewing data where required. You will also support with financial processes and reporting.

Other key tasks will vary from project to project.

**What we’re looking for**
- Experience in managing high volume of correspondence and mailbox management.
- Skills and knowledge in financial processes, including Purchase Orders and Invoicing.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comfortable to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Sound written communication skills.
- An understanding of and an interest in government and political processes is also desirable.
