The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) has diverse responsibilities for transport systems and services, infrastructure planning and provision within South Australia.

**Duties**

The Transport Assessment Officer is responsible for assessing and providing advice and recommendations on access/road corridor management matters, and development planning matters, that interface with the transport network.

The role delivers a range of services including investigations, assessments, and preparation of high quality written reports and documentation relating to:

- legislative requirements under the Highways Act and Local Government Act
- departmental interests in land under the Land & Business (Sale & Conveyancing) Act,
- road opening and closing proposals,
- surplus government property enquiries.

More broadly, the role provides input to key initiatives and strategies to develop the Department’s role and capacity in managing the effective and efficient transport movement on the transport network.
- Experience working within a legislative framework and interpreting legislative requirements.
- Expertise in the delivery of written briefings and reports with recommendations.
Demonstrated experience in managing customers’ enquiries and delivering customer focused services.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively at all levels and contribute to successful and positive stakeholder relationships.
- Proficiency in the use of software, including databases and records management systems.
- Solution focused with high levels of motivation and initiative.

**Requirements**:
Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Transport Engineering; Urban and Regional Planning; Law, Business or Contract Management or similar field essential.
