The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) has diverse responsibilities for transport systems and services, infrastructure planning and provision within South Australia.

**Duties**

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport is the SA Government’s lead agency delivering and maintaining State Government infrastructure and vital transport and other services. The appointment of the Legal Advisor is an ongoing role which provides the successful appointee with the unique and exciting opportunity to expand on their significant legal expertise.

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel of the Department’s in-house Legal Services unit, the Legal Advisor will provide high level legal advice across the Department including in relation to commercial property leasing and licensing and infrastructure and transport matters.

The Legal Advisor will also work closely and collaboratively with a team of lawyers including the outposted team from the Crown Solicitor’s Office to provide high quality and timely legal advice across all business units of the Department. This will include research, analysis and preparation of legal documents and advice on policy or legal issues including complex matters.

**About you**
Applicants should be admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of South Australia and the holder of a practising certificate (or eligible to hold one). You will be an experienced practitioner and be able to conduct your work with mínimal supervision.

- experience in real property law including commercial leasing and licensing;
- an interest in developing expertise in the areas of Commercial law, Administrative law and Government regulation;
- outstanding communication (verbal and written) skills who can collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders;
- attention to detail even when working under pressure to meet deadlines; and
- a commitment to providing excellent and client-focused legal services.

**Requirements**:
A Degree in Law.

Admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of South Australia or eligible to be so admitted.

Hold or be eligible to hold a Practising Certificate in the State of South Australia.

**Special Conditions**

Must have a minimum of three years of Post Admission Experience working in relevant areas

The role will form part of the Legal Services Unit but also work closely with Solicitors from the Crown Solicitor’s Office including those out-posted to DIT;
The Department recognises the role as both a legal practitioner and an officer of the Supreme Court of South Australia. While the Senior Legal Advisor is an employee of the Department and will abide by all lawful and reasonable instructions, the Department acknowledges the independence of the role as a legal practitioner in giving legal advice and will not seek to give instructions as to the content of that advice.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel may be required.

**Remuneration**
LE03 - $92,180 to $99,510 per annum
