**The Opportunity**
- Develop skills in a range of activities associated with biobanking including processing, database work and laboratory operations
- $91,472 - $97,579 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading
- Full-time (35 hours week) 3-year fixed term contract

The Technical Officer - Biorepository plays a key role in supporting researchers and research infrastructure as part of the multidisciplinary Biospecimen Services Team, within the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre. The position works with key stakeholders across faculties and schools to ensure the efficient delivery of biorepository services. The position provides support for all aspects of biospecimen collection, preparation, storage and distribution with oversight of the biospecimen processing laboratories, associated cold storage infrastructure and biospecimen database. The Technical Officer - Biorepository provides technical assistance to a range of research projects for key stakeholders across the UNSW. The role reports to the Manager of Biospecimen Services and has no direct reports.

**The Organisation**

The Biological Resource Imaging Laboratory (BRIL) is a unit of the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre located in the Lowy Cancer Research Centre. As part of BRIL, UNSW Biospecimen Services is providing a coordinated, centrally managed biobanking service for researchers across UNSW and its affiliated research institutes, ensuring a high level of standardised processes around all biobanking activities including patient consent, specimen collection, data linkage and research governance, ensuring that UNSW continues to function as a leader in research employing biospecimens.
