The Australian Government’s Women in STEM Ambassador, Professor Lisa Harvey-Smith, is responsible for increasing the participation of women and girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) studies and careers across Australia. The Women in STEM Ambassador’s team works closely with the Commonwealth Government to address gender equity issues across all STEM disciplines in the education and training, research, academic and industry sectors. The Women in STEM Ambassador initiative is funded by a Commonwealth grant and based at the University of New South Wales. All roles in the Office of the Women in STEM Ambassador are open to optional work-from-home arrangements, within Australia.

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing operations of the Office of the Women in STEM Ambassador. The role is a key support to ensure the goals and initiatives of the Women in STEM Ambassador’s portfolio are accomplished within designated timeframes and budget.

**The Women in STEM Ambassador team works flexibly, including the option for flexible hours. This role can be performed remotely from anywhere in Australia or be based in Sydney with on-campus and work-from-home options.**

**This is a maternity backfill role through 31 January, 2024. **About the role**
- **$121K - $137K** plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
- Fixed Term - 4 months (Parental leave cover)
- Part time (28 hours per week)

The role of Operations Manager, reports to Associate Professor Lisa Williams, Chief Investigator of the grants that fund the Office for the Women in STEM Ambassador, with a dotted line to the Women in STEM Ambassador. The role has 1 direct report.** This is a maternity backfill role through 31 January, 2024. **Specific responsibilities for this role include**:

- Work with Chief Investigator and Women in STEM Ambassador to establish and maintain strategic direction of the Office.
- Interpret and manage requirements and deliverables set out by the Women in STEM Ambassador and Chief Investigator and provide proactive strategic advice and solution-focused action in a timely and accurate manner.
- Develop strategic communications to deliver critical messages to key stakeholders regarding relevant issues and developments, including in relation to the flagship initiatives.
- Drive efficient and effective administration of the Office of the Women in STEM Ambassador; including but not limited to coordinating monthly project reports, tracking team action-items and documenting project outputs, proof-reading and editing papers, supporting the steering committee and organising travel.
- Liaise with appropriate stakeholders to prepare documentation or reports as required for governance and compliance requirements, and specific meetings (such as board meetings) and/or interviews.
- Oversee finance administration requests, including but not limited to, purchasing, travel, credit card reconciliation, expense reimbursements, payment requests and billing processes.
- Drive high performance and quality outcomes across the Office, providing effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the outputs relating to findings, budgets, financial statements and other matters as required.
- Liaise with external service providers, including negotiating contracts, with input from UNSW Procurement and Legal teams.
- Provide effective leadership to create a culture that supports ongoing growth and development to a team of professionals that work collaboratively with other stakeholders across Australia, including setting work plans and performance indicators through the MyCareer process
- Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct
- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
