**Job description**:
This Federal Government department is seeking an experienced
**APS4 Recruitment Officer** for a 6 month contract.

**Purpose of the role**

The Recruitment Officer supports the team and the agency in the day to day recruitment and onboarding activities within the Recruitment section of the People and Property Branch, including participating in planning within the work area.

The role is responsible for undertaking work that is moderately complex in nature, under general direction, utilising functional expertise within the area of public sector recruitment.

**Key position responsibilities**

- Contribute to the development and maintenance of recruitment arrangements that are or could be accessed by the agency, including, delivery of recruitment related training and templates for the agency’s use.
- Prepare letter of offers and initiate any pre employment checks.
- Participate in, complete and provide support to recruitment and onboarding projects as required
- Build rapport and maintain stakeholder relationships, including liaising with stakeholders to assist in resolving simple to moderately complex issues.
- Contribute to maintenance of records and employee files.
- Communicate and make decisions using expertise and knowledge, governed by legislation, regulations, the department and APSC best practice principles or relevant operating instructions and procedures.
- Contribute to election preparation and delivery activities in accordance with the election readiness framework, according to individual accountabilities and responsibilities.
- Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed by the Management from time to time.

**Additional responsibilities during an Electoral Event**

- Be familiar with, abide by and promote all work health and safety frameworks, policies and procedures.
- Complete all training as required

**Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**_Mandatory_**
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly acquire recruitment related legislation, policies, procedures and practices.
- Strong commitment to customer services and the provision accurate and professional advice
- Ability to achieve quality results with close attention to detail and a commitment to ongoing improvements
- Effective time management skills, able to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Proven ability to communicate effectively whilst liaising with stakeholders and assisting to resolve issues across a geographically dispersed network
- Demonstrates resilience and agility, responds positively while working under pressure
- Demonstrated personal integrity whilst delivering solution oriented outcomes within legislative and policy parameters.

**_ Desirable_**
- Qualifications in human resource management, business, public administration or a similar field
- Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice
- Knowledge of APSC recruitment practices
