Data Analyst

The Data Analyst is an essential member who will be supporting the Institute’s Quality Improvement Initiative, reporting into the Data & Analytics Manager. As part of the support role, they will need to collect data from various business areas, assess its relevance, and analyse its usability. They will also manipulate the data as necessary and assist in producing reports and quality metrics that drive actionable outcomes. This process aims to enhance the overall performance and quality of the institute's offerings.
The position will work with data to provide insights and support driving evidence-based decision making and enable detailed performance monitoring against the institute’s strategic targets, with and emphasis on student satisfaction. This position is based in the Data and Analytics Team which sits within the broader Financial Planning & Analytics team.
This role requires an analytical, proactive and agile team member who’s passionate about the effective use of data to inform decision making and quality improvement and has the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to understand the underlying source of the data and manipulate it to implement data and reporting solutions. In addition, good knowledge of data wrangling approaches will be required as they will be working closely with data and system specialists.
The role will collaborate with the Data Governance Group to strengthen a governance framework centred on transparent Measure Definitions and high data quality. It will focus on ensuring compliance while addressing privacy, accessibility, and security standards. Proactively identifying areas for improvement will be essential for effective data management.
Success in this role relies on the ability to foster strong relationships across the organization, linking both technical and non-technical resources. Utilizing data effectively will be essential in driving quality improvements that enhance student satisfaction. A key focus will be on student retention, which serves as a vital indicator of our success. By prioritizing collaboration and data-driven insights, pursue the achievement of meaningful outcomes in the student experience.
**ABOUT YOU**
You are a highly motivated individual with well-developed skills, experience and qualifications in:
- Degree qualified in data and analytics, accounting, business or related discipline along with subsequent experience in data and analytics.
- Ability to compare and analyse detailed data from varied sources, typically from large, complex data sets, to identify problems and determine appropriate manual or automated solutions.
- 2 years’ experience of working in a similar Data Analyst role
- Collect data using available technology systems
- Lead and participate in functional and business requirements gathering sessions.
- Utilise Power BI to analyse large datasets and present compelling insights in appropriate visual formats - such as infographics, multidimensional charts and dashboards.
- Demonstrated proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using relevant software development experience (Power BI and SQL preferred)
- Experience in driving performance across an organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake analysis of key drivers, and an ability to develop performance reports based on data and evidence.
- Significant experience with complex business systems/processes and advanced knowledge of business intelligence or analytics tools and data visualisation.
- Experience and knowledge in partnering with the business to develop, review and analyse actual performance to target, including the establishment of targets.
- Ability to support implementations for strategic change utilising data, analytics and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels across the business including Business Managers, System Owners and various data/system specialists.
- Effective self-management skills including the ability to prioritise, problem solve, meet deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Promote the use of centralised data warehouse being the single source of truth for the organisation.
- High level written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently and autonomously.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate, influence and motivate.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
