**Your role**

Join our team as a Compliance Manager Records to undertake projects and programs of work to regulate, guide and influence official recordkeeping and information and records management across the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).

**What you’ll do**
- Develop and manage the implementation of DCJ policies, standards and practice guidance to promote the continual improvement of government recordkeeping and compliance with the Act
- Manage projects, and undertake research and analysis of records and information management developments
- Provide expert guidance, advice and other services to Business Units on information and records management policy and governance, recordkeeping issues and strategic approaches to key information and records risks
- Research, analyse and evaluate policies /programs and emerging issues to inform policy initiatives and advice to support public sector information and records management.
- Establish and manage strategies for monitoring implementation and compliance by public offices across Justice with policies, standards and guidelines, and reporting on areas for improvement and corrective or other action to promote best practice and compliance.
- Develop and implement a program of education and communications to develop and enhance skills and knowledge in recordkeeping across the sector and maintain the capacity of the sector to operate compliantly and to meet changing needs.
- Provide support to the Principal Manager
- Records on complex records management inquiries, projects or staff training to ensure knowledge of records management is embedded in the organisation and services delivered are timely, compliant and business focused.

**What we’re looking for**
- Extensive experience in managing or implementing digital information, records and/or archives projects
- Understanding of digital recordkeeping concepts and practices, and the ability to respond to emerging management and technology trends impacting on information management
- Deep understanding of the current business and regulatory environment for NSW Government recordkeeping and information governance frameworks.

You will also have:

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Someone who can set their own priorities and work part of a team
- Someone with exceptional planning and organisational skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of records management principles, practices, the State Records Act 1998 and current legislation.

**Essential requirements**:

- Possession of archives/records/information management qualifications acceptable for professional membership of the Australian Society of Archivists or other combination of qualifications and experience deemed to be equivalent
- Experience reviewing and managing a complex retention and disposal process.
- Current Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
