This role primarily leads and motivates a large team through half-year and year-end, both virtually and in person, through the reporting process to deliver on external and internal financial reporting requirements and drive excellence and accuracy of financial reporting. Additionally, this role also leads the day-to-day delivery of external reporting to KPMG and other external parties ensuring business units can provide timely and accurate financial information to relevant stakeholders across the business.

You will also have the ability to work within deadlines with a high degree of flexibility and co-ordinate with the wider finance group to deliver key information to support Group Finance, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications as required. Given the importance of financial reporting information in external reporting documents, this role will lead the team in ensuring the information provided has been reviewed thoroughly.

You will be expected in this role to build deep experience and expertise in relation to the Qantas business, foster strong, positive and collaborative relationships with the business units and leverage your external reporting and accounting experience to identify and address accounting and reporting issues, implement group policies and procedures, offering practical alternatives to address problems and innovative solutions.

**You will have**:

- Degree in a business-related discipline and accreditation with CA/CPA or equivalent with over 10 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability effectively communicate financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- The ability to grasp complex issues and communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
- Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and experience of delivering external reporting in a large ASX listed organisation
- Passion to delivery high quality financial reporting, which provides high confidence and quality insights on the underlying numbers through detailed review
- Continuous improvement mindset, which not only improves the process but continually uplifts the quality of inputs and outputs
- Ability to lead, coach and motivate a large team, both virtually and in person, through the half-year and year-end process to deliver on all requirements. This team includes Group Tax, Group FPA, external and internal secondees.
- A strong analytical mindset with a meticulous eye for detail, whilst still being able to see the longer strategic vision for the Group
- Mentoring and coaching skills
- A good understanding of and experience in working with Hyperion Financial Reporting/MFR and Workiva is beneficial
