**The Opportunity**

We have an opportunity for an Investigator to be part of our Fisheries & Aquaculture Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The primary purpose of the role is to undertake routine, sensitive or complicated investigations into breaches of fisheries legislation. This includes investigations into minor indictable offences, cross jurisdictional activities, surveillance and informant management, all in line with relevant legislative and procedural requirements.

The role contributes delivering the agency priorities including:

- Regulatory excellence and reforms of our legislative framework and programs to drive efficiency, effectiveness and unlock potential.
- Build partnerships with industry, stakeholders, research organizations and regional communities.

The role contributes to delivering the security, sustainable use and sharing of South Australia’s community-owned aquatic resources through specialised investigative expertise.

**Special Conditions**
- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
- Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
- Opportunity up to March 2025
- Full time opportunity, 37.5 hours per week

**Requirements**:

- Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
- You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations.
- A flexible approach to working hours is necessary. The hours of duty of an Investigator will be an average of 150 per four-week period to be worked irregularly over 7 days including public holidays and weekends. Employees are required to work approximately 50% of their weekends and public holidays, they will be eligible to receive an allowance of 13.1%
- Some intrastate and interstate travel with overnight absences, working in remote areas and at times under harsh conditions including at sea, may be required.
- The position is based in a designated metropolitan or regional area, however the incumbent may be required to transfer to another location as required (Stations are located across the State)
- The Investigator will participate in the FISHWATCH Duty Officer roster.
- At short notice, the incumbent will be required to be part of a marine search and rescue operations in accordance with the PIRSA Emergency Response Plans and the Memorandum of Understanding with SAPOL and the Department for Planning, Transport & Infrastructure
- The incumbent may be recalled to work to investigate land and off shore reports of illegal fishing activities
- The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

**Remuneration**

OPS5 - $80,877 min - $86,461 max per annum, plus superannuation
