My client is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Regional Capability Specialist. committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance in operations. As a leading provider of rail logistics solutions, they rely on the expertise of their team to ensure the ongoing capability development of the NSW train crew.
Role Overview:
As a Regional Capability Specialist, your primary objective will be to develop and maintain the capability of the extensive NSW Train Crew. You will achieve this by delivering nationally accredited training and assessment, conducting toolbox talks, briefing sessions, infield training, coaching, and mentoring. Additionally, you will support the delivery of safety-related programs and messages to foster a strong safety culture within our organization.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as a safety leader and advocate for high standard safety practices.
- Deliver and support Rail programs focusing on safety, health, risk management, environmental compliance, and quality.
- Support the ongoing capability development of all Driver Trainers.
- Partner with the local Area Manager to address local training demands.
- Assist in managing the delivery of Rail training plans and individual train crew training plans.
- Manage training materials and content, including validation and moderation activities for assessments.
- Conduct Competence Assurance (CA) training and assessment activities.
- Deliver nationally accredited training programs, primarily Certificate IV in Train Driving, adhering to RTO standards and procedures.
- Provide onboarding training to new crew members.
- Conduct coaching conversations, retraining, and assessment for crew following incidents or safety breaches.
- Participate in rail safety, internal, and external audits.
- Contribute to the review of procedures, protocols, and processes for continuous improvement.
- Deliver toolbox talks, briefing sessions, and training sessions for employees and contractors.
- Train and mentor train drivers and trainee crew in professional driving techniques.
- Assist in the development of briefing and training courseware.
- Undertake all administrative tasks required for the role.
- Collaborate with other Trainers and members of the Rail Training Team.
- Engage in professional development activities as a vocational education and training practitioner.
- Comply with and promote the Rail Safety Management System (SMS).
- Utilize digital systems for training, assessment, and record management.
- Travel within the local region as required.

Qualifications Required:
- Certificate in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent).
- Current Certificate IV in Train Driving from the Transport and Logistics Training Package.
- 5 years' experience as a qualified train driver.
