**Why Your Role Matters**:
The Governance Officer provides governance advice and support for a portfolio of University Boards and Committees. You will make an active contribution to the strategic and operational plans and policies of the Governance team. You will also have the opportunity to take part in exciting governance projects and collaborate with a wide range of people within UNSW.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide high quality support and governance advice to stakeholders on the University’s obligations (under University Rules, By-laws and policies) and regarding best practice on governance matters.
- Prepare agendas, minutes, documents, attend meetings and distribute meeting outcomes.
- Facilitate the effective operation of committees, including progressing items and meeting schedules.
- Draft briefing notes, executive summaries, reports and other documents.
- Contribute to specific projects designed to improve Governance processes and decision-making across the University.

**Skills & experience: You will hold a** relevant degree and/or demonstrated hands-on experience. This role would especially suit someone with 3-5 years practical experience as a Committee Secretary or Company Secretary alongside:

- An ability to research issues appropriately and report findings accurately, both verbally and in writing.
- Being an organised and attentive individual, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Project management, analysis, research, planning and advisory skills.
- An ability to function independently with a high level of confidentiality, diplomacy, and discretion.
- It would be beneficial to have an existing understanding of governance systems within the tertiary education sector.
