**Your new company**

Join a Sydney-based Not-for-Profit organisation, committed to making a difference in the field of medical research. This role is a 3-month contract opportunity to join a high-performing team with hybrid working arrangements.

**Your new role**

As a Governance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operations and compliance within our organisation. This autonomous position requires a proactive individual who can manage their own project plan, collaborate effectively, and uphold our policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Committees Coordinator to review committees’ terms of reference and key governance policies.
- Manage the regular cycle of Board, key subcommittee meetings, and the Annual General Meeting. This includes distributing meeting notices, handling out-of-session items, and preparing board and committee papers.
- Manage our strategic documents, policies, and procedures, providing monthly reports on upcoming deadlines.
- Provide or procure advice for the CEO and Manager - Finance and Business on various matters, including trade practices, legislative changes, environmental issues, workplace health and safety, and superannuation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Previous experience in governance or secretariat roles.
- The ability to work closely with our Board, Audit Risk and Compliance committees, and other governance committees.
- Understanding of NFP or government principles.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organisational skills and an eye for detail.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with senior management and committees.
- Familiarity with DocuSign for contract management.
