GIO (part of Suncorp Group) is looking for an empathetic and customer focused individual to join our Workers Compensation Claims team in Canberra as a Claims Advisor, on a permanent basis.

As a GIO (part of Suncorp Group) Workers Compensation Claims Advisor, you will play a critical role in assisting injured workers throughout the claims process. You will serve as a primary point of contact, providing guidance, support, and expertise to ensure a seamless experience for both workers and employers.

As a valued team member, you will find your colleagues and leader working with you to achieve individual and collective work goals. The support offered by the team will ensure the applicant’s success in their role as well as provide an enjoyable and friendly culture and atmosphere to enter each day. While the role involves specific procedures and protocols based around legislation that must be followed, the team appreciates and supports each new member to learn and execute their duties in the way that best suits their learning style.

**What you’ll do**
- Manage a portfolio of Workers Compensation Claims from initial contact to final return to work
- Accurately review and assess claims in line with the ACT Workers Compensation Act and internal policies and procedures.
- Clear and concise communication with all stakeholders
- Engage with the ACT Market, employers and Brokers to enable collaborative portfolio management and quality reviews
- Manage your workflow to ensure that all activities are completed within applicable timeframes
- Collaborate with internal support and external stakeholders to ensure proactive Case Management and best customer outcomes
- Provide an excellent level of customer service to employers and injured workers through compliance with legislation, timely response times and efficiency in processing

**What you’ll bring**
- Experience with Workers Compensation/personal injury claims or rehabilitation/health care experience
- Strong team player with a proven track record of providing excellent customer service
- Exceptional listening and communication skills in a high-volume work environment
- Strong analytical or Quality Assurance focus
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy for the customer
- Proven ability to build rapport with customers and key partners
- Ability to interpret complex information and respond by developing appropriate actions
- High standard of written and verbal communication skills
- Effective case management skills in a high-volume work environment
- Effective time management skills with the ability to adhere to strict timeframes
- High level of resilience and ability to manage complex, sensitive and challenging matters
- Allied Health experience would be highly regarded but not essential
