Reporting to the Head of Claims, Australasia, the FINEX Claims Leader leads and ensures we act as client advocates for all FINEX claims classes (professional indemnity, cyber liability, management liability, employment practices liability, medical malpractice, Directors & Officers, statutory liability), settlement negotiations and problem-solving.


With a strong understanding of professional risks, claims processes and procedures and the applicable legal frameworks, regulations and regulatory bodies, the FINEX Claims Leader provides guidance to the FINEX Claims Specialists and keeps brokers informed in relation to claims strategy.

The individual will also thrive on personally managing and overseeing complex claims providing pragmatic advice to clients on the validity of claims, appropriate claim strategy and carriers' coverage, within the wider commercial context.


The FINEX Claims Leader will liaise with counterparts within WTW globally, proactively managing claims for risks placed in Australia, New Zealand and other markets internationally.


With a bent towards ongoing improvement, the FINEX Claims Leader will also be responsible for sharing knowledge and lessons learnt from claims to support effective knowledge sharing and growth across the Australasian claims team, product development, and to contribute to thought leadership for existing clients and new business prospects.


The Role

  • Leadership of the National FINEX Claims portfolio including monitoring and managing workloads and workflows; development, training and coaching of less senior team members.
- 'Leading by example' and ensuring all FINEX claims advisors properly use WTW systems and comply with relevant operating procedures at all times.

  • Ensure claims team members follow standard processes to ensure consistency of the claims function nationally, and are provided with adequate development and training
  • Holds all regulatory licences, permissions and technical or other requirements applicable under local legislation

The Requirements

  • Highly Organised
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with clients, brokers and insurers.
  • Excellent influencing, negotiation, presentation & communication skills
  • Extensive claims expertise in all classes of professional risks claims
  • Evidence of ability to coach and mentor of team members.
  • Extensive experience in:
- professional risks legal practice and/or claims management
- all aspects of end to end claims process, specific process requirements and client and carrier engagement, including adjudication process/ procedures

  • Demonstrated success in claims negotiation and resolution processes
  • Commercial litigation experience (and/or extensive exposure to and understanding of the same)
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of professional risks policy wordings and coverage issues
