**Position Information**:
Punchbowl Public School serves a highly diverse and multicultural community, with 92.46% of students having a language background other than English, including students coming from a refugee background. Over 30 different language backgrounds are represented in the school community.

Punchbowl Public School has a K-6 enrolment of approximately 505 students, including 14 students who attend one of our two K-6 Autism Support classes. The school also has 108 Preschool students, including 28 students who attend an Early Intervention Program. Eleven of our students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Punchbowl Public School has a strong team of professional and dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff who are at various stages of their careers. Student learning is supported by a range of specialist support staff. These include English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) teachers, Learning and Support Teachers (LaSTs) and Arabic Community Language teachers. The school also the site for a School as Community Centre (SaCC), which is led by our SaCC Facilitator.

Punchbowl Public School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school. The school’s PBL team leads the development and implementation of programs to support the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of students.

The Assistant Principal Special Education (APSE) at Punchbowl Public School oversees two K-6 Autism Support classes and two Early Intervention classes that provide a preschool program for children who have a confirmed disability and are aged from 3 years to school entry. The Early Intervention program includes resource support where the early intervention teacher works collaboratively with the child's regular childcare centre or preschool to support the child and the staff at that centre. It is anticipated that the APSE will take the main teaching load in one of the K-6 Autism Support classes.

In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students K-6 with autism and/or intellectual disabilities.
- High-level organisational skills to balance classroom teaching with complex administration and leadership to successfully manage support classes in line with NSW Department of Education policies, procedures and legislation.
- Capacity to lead staff to implement innovative, evidence-informed, differentiated teaching and learning programs catering for diverse needs.
- Highly visible, approachable and collaborative leadership with a capacity to build and maintain positive, inclusive, trusting relationships and partnerships with students, families, staff and external agencies.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
