**Position Information**:
Lansvale East Public School is a small, unique and diverse school situated in the epicenter of the Fairfield network, a part of Southwest Sydney
- a highly multicultural community where students from a dynamic range of backgrounds come together in learning. The school has provided rich, quality educational opportunities for the students of Lansvale East for over 50 years. The school culture fosters a supportive, inclusive and family oriented setting with students, staff, parents, carers and the wider community working together to promote school excellence.

Currently, 136 students attend Lansvale East Public School across various classroom settings. Our school has five mainstream classes from Kindergarten to Year 6, including cross-stage and stage class structures, and a five Support Unit, which provides an integrated and inclusive learning environment for 31 students with special needs including Moderate Intellectual Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our school is supported by a strong and vibrant multicultural community. Currently, 91% of students have a non-English speaking background with the predominant language groups being Vietnamese, Arabic and Tongan and 2% of the student population identify as Aboriginal. We have over 20 languages spoken in the homes of our families and community. 83% of our students require English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) support. The Vietnamese Community Language Program supports students in maintaining and developing further competence in their community language. We pride ourselves on embracing our diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

The school provides a wide range of extra-curricular programs, including after-school activities, aimed at ensuring the 'whole child' is developed. Multicultural and community events, sporting activities including PSSA sport, gardening skills, creative and performing arts opportunities and the integration of technology enables our students to excel through a range of different interests and skills and are led by a team of dedicated staff.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience in leading quality teaching and learning for students with Autism, who may also present with additional needs such as sensory, challenging behaviour and communication.

2. Evidence of a highly visible, approachable and collaborative leader with a capacity to balance classroom teaching with successful management and organisation of a Support Unit, in line with Department of Education policies and procedures.

3. Capacity to work collaboratively as a leader to reflect on school practices, further develop staff capacity and strategically lead in supporting the implementation of the school’s Strategic Improvement Plan 2023-2026.

4. Effective, and collaborative leader with experience in team management, building positive, inclusive, trusting relationships with families, staff, external agencies, and the wider community.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
