**Position Information**:
The Assistant Principal Special Education position is for the well established Support Unit at Lidcombe Public School that includes an IM, an IO and an IO/Au class. The role will commence in Term 1 2023. Lidcombe Public School is an inclusive K-6 primary school of 870 students, including 94% of students from a language background other than English. The school acknowledges Aboriginal connections to the Wangal and Wategora people. The school has an inclusive curriculum that is responsive to the learning strengths and needs of students from diverse linguistic, cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. The school has a strong inclusive and collaborative culture of challenge, support and continuous learning for all students, staff, parents and the wider community. **Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with disabilities and the demonstrated capacity to work as part of an executive team and to balance exemplary classroom practice and management skills within the complexities of the Assistant Principal role.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to lead and engage a collaborative team, building positive, inclusive, trusting relationships with students, parents, staff, external agencies and the wider community.
- High level organisational skills to balance classroom teaching with complex administration and ongoing improvement of a well-established established support unit within a growing school community
- Proven ability to lead evidence-based and evaluative practices to implement high quality differentiated curriculum including the development and implementation of student personalised learning plans and transition plans, that impact positively on staff capacity, student engagement, a culture of inclusion and whole school improvement.

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5.
