**About the Role**

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Communications and Media Officer to join the highly reputable Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. As a key member of the marketing and communications team, you will have the opportunity to implement innovative and integrated communication strategies to support the Institute's initiatives and engage with stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:

- Support the Senior Communications and Media Officer in designing and delivering internal and external communications, content, and media plans aligned with the Institute's marketing and communications strategy.
- Develop internal and external communications materials, including media releases, web and intranet content, social media content, and other collateral.
- Manage proactive and reactive media enquiries as directed by the Senior Communications and Media Officer, triaging and guiding staff and stakeholders at all levels who may be required to respond to media interest.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including liaising with the communications teams of the Institute's joint-venture partners, the University of Melbourne and The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

As the Communications and Media Officer, you should demonstrate excellent time management skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks. In this role, you will use your high-level verbal and written communication skills to inspire audiences with relevant and impactful content. You will interact with multiple stakeholders, locally and globally, with whom you will build, establish and maintain positive relationships. You are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the communication and promotion of groundbreaking research and scientific advancements in infection and immunity.

You will also have:

- Completion of a marketing or communications-relevant degree (or completion of a diploma qualification and subsequent relevant work experience) or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated experience supporting the implementation and delivery of communications initiatives.
- Ability to work to a high ethical standard ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- High level verbal and written communication skills (the selection process will include a writing and proofreading exercise)
