**SC1** ‘Content of teaching and learning’: Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum. Demonstrated ability to assist the implementation of school priorities (wellbeing), including the Disability and Inclusion Profiles and the teaching of School-Wide Positive Behaviour Framework and strategies throughout the school.

**SC2** ‘Leadership’: Demonstrated ability to lead the planning and implementation of high impact teaching strategies that promote positive relationships between students and staff and respond to student wellbeing needs.

**SC3** ‘Assessment and reporting’: Demonstrated ability to monitor and assess wellbeing at a class, cohort or whole-school level and use this data to lead improvement initiatives. Demonstrated ability to support others in using wellbeing data to inform teaching practice in the area of social and emotional learning.

**SC4** ‘Collaboration and interaction with school community’: Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, paraprofessionals, and the broader school community, particularly when focused on the Disability and Inclusion program, student wellbeing and engagement.

**SC5** ‘Professional requirements’: Demonstrated ability to be responsive to student wellbeing issues as they arise and follow through accordingly, showing respect and impartiality at all times.

**Role**:
Range 2 classroom teachers play a significant role in assisting the school to improve student performance and educational outcomes determined by the school strategic plan and state-wide priorities and contributing to the development and implementation of school policies and priorities.

A critical component of this work will focus on increasing the knowledge base of staff within their school about student learning and high quality instruction to assist their school to define quality teacher practice.

Range 2 classroom teachers will be expected to:

- Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students
- Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers in the school to engage in critical reflection of their practice and to support staff to expand their capacity
- Provide expert advice about the content, processes and strategies that will shape individual and school professional learning
- Supervise and train one or more student teachers
- Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches that enable targets related to improving student learning outcomes to be achieved.

**Responsibilities**:
The role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:

- Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;
- Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;
- Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;
- Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;
- Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.

**Who May Apply**:
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

This role is negotiable for temporary periods of increase up to 30 hr/wk. This means a minimum of 3 days per week at 6 hours per day 8:40am-3:10pm, quite likely 4-5 days per week by mutual agreement

**ADDITIONAL RESPSONSIBILITIES**

Duties and responsibilities of the role include but not restricted to:

- build positive relationships with the students
- be able to assess risk to student wellbeing through formal and informal tools
- be able to liaise effectively with students, teacher, parents/carers, staff and non-school based agencies, complying at all times with professional guidelines and confidentiality
- provide immediate and/or ongoing behaviour and wellbeing support to students, including counselling (1:1 or small groups)
- provide professional development around social and emotional learning to staff as applicable to promote student wellbeing and inclusion
- in consultation with school leadership, contribute to the development and improvement of the administrative elements of school wellbeing as required
- coach staff on wellbeing and behaviour management strategies and related pedagogy
- coordinate clear referral pathways internally (within school) and externally (to community services) for students identified as requiring further assessme
