**Role**:
The Primary Welfare Officer (PWO) will play a key role in building a sense of belonging and promote wellbeing in children by enhancing the emotional and social health of all students.

The PWO will provide direct support to students and families to address the social and emotional needs of students. This includes working collaboratively with other health and wellbeing services, liaising with external community service providers, including but not limited to DFFH, hospitals, specialist programs and other professionals as outlined in the Child Information Sharing Scheme.

The PWO will contribute to the delivery of student support services within a multi-disciplinary team. Collaborating with educators to identify and develop educational, social and emotional programs with a focus on prevention and intervention including complex responses and restoring wellbeing.

This position operates under the supervision and direction of the Principal and within the Wellbeing Support Team.

**Responsibilities**:
The responsibilities of this position will be:

- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and the school’s Wellbeing Team to ensure students receive the support they need.
- Liaise with service providers and student support services (SSSO, KESO team) to facilitate student referrals to support the wellbeing of individual student and attend a variety of meetings with staff, the Department, parents and allied health professionals.
- Document clear and concise processes/procedures for all processes within the role in collaboration with relevant parties.
- Monitor student attendance and lateness
- Work collaboratively with the school to contribute to policies and operational practices that will guide the work of others, including other school wellbeing staff and teachers.
- Maintain appropriate records of IEPs, SSGs and assessments.
- Promote an Inclusive Culture through key opportunities such as Harmony Week, RU OK Day, Bully Stoppers etc
- Coordinate and promote support aid for students and their families including State Schools Relief, Foodbank Australia (Breakfast Club) etc
- Keeping abreast of current trends and best practice in student wellbeing and incorporating these in your practice
- Other duties as directed by the Principal

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
