The NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) provides an independent, efficient, fair and just prosecution service for the people of New South Wales. Its vision is to be a dynamic prosecution service recognised for its excellence and leadership. The Witness Assistance Service (WAS) is a specialist unit within the ODPP which works as part of the prosecution team and assists and supports victims of crime and vulnerable witnesses throughout the criminal justice process.

The Witness Assistance Service Intake Cadet will provide case management and administrative support to the WAS Intake Team by registering and assessing vulnerable victims and witnesses of crime who are eligible for support by the Witness Assistance Service across NSW. The WAS Intake Officer Cadet will provide a direct service including intake, assessment and provision of a range of short term interventions and referrals for vulnerable victims and witnesses of crime.

This position will be for an initial period of up to 24 months.

A Talent Pool will be created for future positions that may arise over the next 18 months.

**Eligibility**
- Working towards degree qualifications in social work, psychology, social sciences, or related areas.
- Experience in a service providing case management and/or counselling services in trauma related areas or with vulnerable clients.
- Current Working with Children's Check

- Your understanding of the needs of victims and witnesses in the context of the criminal justice system.
- Demonstrated high level communication, ability to work within teams, consultation, negotiation and assessment skills
