**Freedom of Information Officer (FOI)**

**Full-time Position**

**Band 6 - $91,930 - $101,483 (+ superannuation)**

**Role includes a Monthly RDO**

**Hobsons Bay City Council is seeking an FOI Officer responsible for processing requests for information received under the FOI Act, ensuring Council adheres to the requirements of the Act. The role also involves providing high-level support and specialist advice to senior management and Council staff in relation to Freedom of Information (FOI) queries and requests.**

**What you’ll be working on**
- Preparing reports and developing policies in relation to areas of responsibility.
- Monitoring and reviewing processes relating to compliance and statutory obligations under local government legislation.

**What you need to succeed**
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and experience in the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
- Comprehensive knowledge of the FOI Act, Professional Standards, and OVIC practice notes.
- A strong understanding of the local government sector.
- Conceptual and analytical abilities with strong problem-solving skills.
- A customer service orientation and highly developed ethical standards, including the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Experience in drafting and preparing correspondence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of stakeholders.
