**Your NEXT Opportunity**
We are seeking a Payroll, Accounts & HR Assistant to join our Next Payments team in our facilities in Cheltenham, Victoria. This is a maternity leave cover position for a 12-month fixed term, with strong potential for extension or permanency.
Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller and working closely with the HR Manager, you will run a fortnightly payroll for around 140 staff and 10 contractors using Employment Hero Payroll, MYOB NZ & Reckon software. You will also assist across all HR generalist activities such as recruitment, onboarding, staff retention and general administration and provide support to the Accounts & Finance team.

**The Role**:
Your main responsibilities in this role will include:
- Accurate and timely delivery of fortnightly payroll for AU & NZ employees and contractors.
- Ensuring timesheets, leave requests, payroll changes, records and other related material are completed prior to commencement of processing the fortnightly payroll.
- Responding to all payroll related queries in a timely manner.
- Accounts payables entry, reconciliation and payments.
- Company credit card expense allocation and reconciliation.
- Accounts records daily maintenance.
- General assistance within the Finance & Accounts department.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding staff.
- Drafting of letters for role changes, salary increases, and other HR related situations.
- Provide well researched HR advice, direction and consultation to the business where required.
- Assist with adhoc HR administrative tasks such as handling staffing issues, mediating disputes and directing disciplinary procedures when directed by the HR Manager.
**About You**:
- Approachable and friendly, with a great sense of humour
- Excellent PC skills.
- Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel Skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite - Word & Outlook in particular.
- At least 2 years’ previous experience processing end-to-end payroll.
- Previous experience using ‘Employment Hero’, ‘Hero Pay’ and ‘Reckon’ software is highly desirable.
- Experience handling statutory requirements including reconciliation, Workcover, superannuation, PAYG withholdings, overall payroll reconciliation, payroll tax in multiple states.
- Competence in understanding relevant legislation, awards, taxation and superannuation.
- An awareness and ability to maintain the confidential nature of payroll data and other sensitive information.
- Extremely high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Human Resources or Business highly desirable, along with strong understanding of general HR principles.
- Prior experience in recruitment and/or delivering HR initiatives favourable.
- Sound business acumen and analytic skills.
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
