**Job Description**:
**About the Role**

As an Accounts Payable Officer, you will be responsible for the timely processing and payment of creditor, agent and subcontractor invoices. You will report directly to the Shipping Financial Controller and have responsibilities across the accounts payable process from raising purchase orders to receiving, coding and recording invoices to processing pay runs and answering supplier queries. You may also undertake administrative duties to support the broader Finance, Commercial & IT function.

**Primary Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Manage and sort mail. Ensure invoices are properly authorised and matched to relevant supporting documentation
- Raising and coding Purchase Orders as required
- Code invoices to the correct general ledger account and prepare month-end supplier account reconciliations
- Process and reconcile invoices for periodic payment runs
- Coordinate the credit card function including processing periodic journals and reconciliations
- Resolve supplier queries, including investigating outstanding invoices
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate supplier records
- Provide support to the Accountants, Payroll and Management as required, including assisting in the preparation of statutory schedules and month-end journaling
- Undertake administrative tasks as directed by functional managers at a national or branch level
- Provide timely and accurate reports relating to KPIs, outstanding invoices and other relevant supplier information as required by Management, Accountants or Branches

**Qualifications**:

- Demonstrated experience in accounts payable and general accounting functions
- Strong administrative and clerical skills, including experience in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of general accounting principles

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in communicating with suppliers and other stakeholders to resolve queries
