**The opportunity**
**What you will do**
- Negotiate commercial contracts for Vanguard’s Australian business (e.g. ranging from material outsourcing agreements to one-off vendor engagements).
- Support corporate governance at Vanguard Australia including assisting with the management of Board and Committee Meetings and reviewing material, advising on corporate governance requirements, and assisting on various corporate governance initiatives.
- Assist the Legal Manager (Corporate) in negotiating inter-company agreements with sister and parent companies.
- Support Senior Legal Counsels on negotiation of investments trading documentation.
- Conduct research and provides legal support to senior counsel and the business on a variety of complex legal and business issues.
- Coaches junior staff and helps resolve problems.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
**What we are looking for**
- Demonstrated expertise in commercial contract negotiations and vendor supply management
- Relevant experience supporting Board and Committee structures
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders, all levels of employees and senior leadership.
- Proven ability to problem solve complex issues, identify risks and impacts as well as possible solutions and execute corrective action
- Commitment to continuous improvement and enhancement of existing policies and procedures.
**Specialisations that will make an impact**
- Ability to advise/influence group managers, employees, and senior management
- Proficiency in human centred design thinking
- Relevant experience at a multi-national corporation
- Strong knowledge of Financial Services industry, specifically investment management or superannuation
- Minimum five years related legal work experience
- Undergraduate degree in a related field is preferable. Relevant professional certification would be highly regarded
