Energy Sector Legal Counsel

Our client is a rapidly growing Australian retailer operating in a complex, highly regulated environment. They are committed to excellence and serve over 150,000 customers across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, and South-Eastern Queensland.
About This RoleThis is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced lawyer with 3+ years' experience in the energy retail sector. As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality legal support to the Board, Executive team, and business units, ensuring the company minimises legal risk.
Key Accountabilities:
- Providing timely and commercial legal advice to internal stakeholders;
- Assisting with the preparation and review of agreements to maximise commercial outcomes and minimise legal risk;
- Legal review of marketing materials, customer collateral, training, and scripts;
- Management of legal disputes;
- Supporting the GM of Compliance in responding to regulator inquiries and information requests;
- Some Company Secretary and AFSL responsibilities.
About You
- You have 6+ years post-admission experience gained within the energy retail sector, with Telco experience desirable;
- You can discuss and review key risks with key stakeholders;
- You possess excellent negotiation, influencing, and drafting skills, with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities;
- You have highly developed, effective communication skills - both written and oral - to deliver complex ideas and issues simply and powerfully;
- You have strong attention to detail and knowledge of the areas of law outlined;
- You are independent and self-motivated, flexible, and resilient, able to adapt quickly;
- You commit to professional excellence.
We offer a long-term career role within a positive, collaborative, and collegiate culture where you can fully utilise your expertise to deliver and support exceptional service. The estimated annual salary for this role is AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 depending on experience.
