**Your new role**:
We are thrilled to announce an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Category Manager to join our National Procurement Team. This strategic position, reporting directly to the National Supply Chain Manager, is focused on managing the national Transport and Logistics category, with a particular emphasis on road transport by trucks-a crucial element for moving our modular buildings. In this role, you will lead efforts to enhance safety, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, and drive operational value throughout the business.

The Category Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the transport category's future, focusing on enhancing procurement practices and sustainability initiatives. Responsibilities include refining procurement processes to maximise efficiency and value from supplier engagements and exploring innovative approaches to drive competitive pricing and service quality. The role also involves improving collaboration with suppliers for better demand forecasting and operational planning, ensuring project needs are met efficiently. Additionally, efforts to optimise product and service offerings through detailed analysis and strategic sourcing will be key in achieving cost-effectiveness and operational excellence.

Offering the flexibility to work from Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, or Perth, with options for remote work, this role is perfect for strategic thinkers who have a deep passion for logistics and procurement. The role requires proactive involvement in developing and implementing category strategies, achieving optimal cost efficiency, and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Initial travel will be considerable for stakeholder engagement, business familiarisation, and category research, later transitioning to as-needed travel for ongoing management and strategic initiatives.

**_Key responsibilities but not limited to: _**
- Developing and implementing category strategies and plans that align with company objectives, based on in-depth market analysis.
- Identifying and leveraging opportunities to enhance value, reduce costs and risks, and improve safety, quality, and customer service.
- Leading stakeholder collaboration to ensure their performance, technical, and operational requirements are met.
- Managing major tenders and market engagement activities in line with category strategies and objectives.
- Overseeing supplier negotiations, contract establishment, and performance management to ensure service excellence and compliance with safety, and ESG initiatives.

**What you will bring to the role**:

- In-depth understanding of transport regulations and compliance requirements.
- Expertise in the transportation sector, including market dynamics, trends, and best practices.
- A degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or a professional procurement qualification such as MCIPS, is highly regarded.
- Significant senior-level experience in transportation or logistics, showcasing your ability to lead and innovate in the field.
- Exceptional collaborative skills, with a proven track record of building strong internal and external partnerships.
