**About Community Health First**

Community Health First is a collaboration between Victoria’s 24 registered community health services with a goal of leveraging the unique capabilities, expertise and relationships of community health to strengthen the healthcare system and improve health outcomes for our communities. Community Health First aims to raise awareness of community health with decision-makers and influencers. Showcase the work of community health state-wide and build public support to shift attitudes of policy-makers and decision-makers to place high value on community health and position community health to effectively influence State and Federal budgets and policy decisions. Community Health First is overseen by a Steering Committee of Community Health CEO’s and is funded through member organisation contributions.

***The Opportunity**

This is an exciting autonomous role for a strategic thinker committed to collaboration. You will be a strong communicator and astute operator with the capability to influence and engage decision-makers within and outside of government. You will bring a strong understanding of policy, government relations and the healthcare system and the demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively.

**About the role**

The Strategic Advisor is responsible for coordinating, leading and managing Community Health First, under the guidance of the Steering Committee. The Strategic Advisor will establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and stakeholders for the purpose of delivering on Community Health First’s objectives. The role will be employed by Access Health and Community. However, the Strategic Advisor will report to and receive direction from the Community Health First Steering Committee regarding strategy, planning and prioritisation of work.

**What you will be doing**
- Key Responsibilities_
- Serve as a central contract point for Community Health First
- Strategic development, management and coordination of key external relationships
- Maintain Stakeholder map and proactively drive stakeholder contacts
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies
- Engage member CEO’s and key contacts through regular forum and communications
- Develop and support relationships with MP’s/Ministers, Advisors Department
- Lead the development and review of strategic plans for CHF
- Provide effective leadership and management to any other project resources or contractors
- Coordinate relevant governance mechanisms, including Steering Committee and working groups
- Undertake or manage a range of shred projects
- Prepare, identify and manage potential risks; and develop achievable and realistic schedules. Escalate any project related issues as required.
- Prepare key deliverables including submissions, plans and reports for the Steering Committee

**Key Selection Criteria**
- Strong understanding of health and social services policy and systems
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional influencing and relationship management skills including the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative partnerships
- Demonstrated experience in effectively managing government relations and the funding platforms delivered from state and federals governments.
- Demonstration of successful similar projects/campaigns
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in health, policy, and/or communications
