We are introducing agile ways of working, a new case management system and making it easier for the community to engage with us every day. As we continue to modernise the way we work, we are looking for a Registrar to lead a team in the Civil Division, to become empowered, receptive, and ready for change.

**About the role**

The Registrar of VCAT will be accountable for the performance of all legal, quasi-judicial and administrative functions which enable the Tribunal to operate.

You will spend ~60% of your time leading and coaching your team and managing the day-to-day operations of the Division to ensure optimal performance. The remainder of the role will be focused on leading change and supporting the Executive Leadership team to execute on VCAT's strategic priorities. Other responsibilities include review, develop, and implement administrative processes, information systems and statistical information for the Registry; prepare complex correspondence and reports as required to the VCAT President, Presidential Members, Heads of Lists, the Senior Management Group, and the Principal Registrar; proactively identify and manage operational and strategic risks for the Registry.

**About you**

You'll be a champion of VCAT's values, working closely with your Civil Division peers and leading and coaching a team of Deputy Registrars, Team Leaders and Administrative Officers to navigate and solve problems. You'll be actively involved in developing and leading continuous improvement initiatives that support your team and VCAT to be successful. You're someone that thrives in a changing, fluid environment and is passionate about supporting your team to give their best.

You're a leader with a bias for action and results and know that building positive relationships with stakeholders and your team are the key to ensuring VCAT's high impact strategic pieces of work land with positive results.
You're a resilient leader who knows how to help their team navigate through change and is experienced in bringing a team together to achieve a common goal, especially when it comes to transitioning to agile ways of working and new technologies.

Your strong verbal and written and communication skills will be essential to allow your stakeholders and teams to understand information quickly and accurately. A legal background is of benefit but not critical to the role.
You will be based in our Melbourne CBD office with an option for hybrid working.
