The National Operations team is the central point of contact for Open Arms Veterans & Families Counselling (Open Arms) and is responsible for coordinating a range of tasks including, but not limited to mailbox coordination, reporting and governance, briefs and correspondence, secretariat support, questions on notice and input into Departmental requests.
The Assistant Director - Business Management is able to demonstrate strong leadership, the ability to create and maintain efficient systems and processes, sound judgement, flexibility to effectively operate in a variable, multi-task environment, high-quality written communication skills and a high degree of responsiveness to urgent requests.
**Duties**
- Provide executive support to the Director Clinical Operations - National Operations with implementing innovative solutions to streamline practices and deliver high quality and timely responses;
- Provide high level oversight and coordination of activities across the National Operations, contributing to overall operational and/or strategic planning, financial and resource management;
- Responsible for the management and responses to critical client matters identified by DVA staff and key senior stakeholders, including DVA’s Executive and the Minister’s Office;
- Intervene on cases where Executive interest, client wellbeing, incident management or media interest are present. The Assistant Director will not provide a case management service, but will engage the appropriate business areas across the Department to coordinate a timely and tailored responses to matters of concern, to a point of resolution where possible and report back to DVA Executive.
- Undertake research on complex matters and prepare information to be included in reports, briefings, submissions and correspondence for use in both internal and external decision-making forums;

**Eligibility**
- Experience in supporting an executive team
- An understanding of the Australian Public Service
- Excellent writing skills
- Experience liaising with a large number of stakeholders
- Working with Children (WWCC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance must be obtained prior to commencing in the position.
**Notes**

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 18 months. A specified term may be extended up to a maximum period of 3 years.
