**About the business**:
The Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW), NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) Biosecurity & Food Safety division is responsible for effective management and risk minimisation of biosecurity threats to NSW as well as the through-chain regulation of food safety. It delivers a risk-based approach to policy and compliance and provides regional engagement and coordination in response to emergency incidents impacting primary industries and the food sector.

**The Opportunity**:
The** NSW Bee Biosecurity Officer **will work within a broader Bee Biosecurity Program to deliver increased awareness and knowledge of bee biosecurity among beekeepers and support bee pest surveillance. With the ongoing Varroa mite response, you will also play a critical role supporting the response in the field and through extension and education activities.

**Your day will consist of but not be limited to**:

- Promoting and facilitating biosecurity best practices, providing training, preparing resource materials, offering technical support for surveillance data collection, participating in emergency pest responses, and supporting department staff, industry, and the public.
- Collaborating with stakeholders: crucial to develop communication and training materials.
- Challenges include effectively communicating bee biosecurity amidst competing industry issues and encouraging voluntary participation in pest surveillance without financial remuneration.
