**Position Information**:
Leumeah Public School sits on the lands of the Dharawal People and is situated near Campbelltown in South West Sydney. LPS is positioned in spacious grounds with multiple playgrounds and covered outdoor learning spaces. Our school has an enrolment of approximately 490 students. Over 65% of our students are from language backgrounds other than English and 5% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. LPS is comprised of 18 mainstream classes with an additional Opportunity Class and Autism support class. LPS will have two additional support classes open in 2025. The Department's Selective Education Unit is responsible for the placement of students in the Opportunity Class.

The school is actively supported by the P&C.

LPS is a PBL school which brings together the whole-school community to contribute to developing a positive, safe and supportive learning culture. We are committed to improving the literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students. Students are provided with leadership opportunities to drive school initiatives in areas that they are passionate about.

Our 2021-2024 strategic directions have been developed with a focus on What Works Best 2020 update, Curiosity and Powerful Learning Framework and the School Excellence Framework.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,

Approval to teach special education and/or experience in teaching students with autism, intellectual disabilities and complex learning and behavioural needs within a support class.

Demonstrated capacity and experience in balancing exemplary classroom practice and coordination of the role of Assistant Principal, to lead the effective establishment of a newly developed support unit.

Ability to lead teams across the school to differentiate the curriculum and implement individualised learning programs that maximise student engagement, with a strong focus on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes.

Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated capacity to collaborate with school teams and engage with a variety of stakeholders to promote the inclusion of students with multifaceted needs.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
