**Position Information**:
Penshurst West Public School provides quality education for every student. We strive for excellence and equity in our programs supporting all learners to achieve their personal best. Our teachers continuously improve and extend their pedagogical knowledge and practice through high-impact professional learning. Staff demonstrate high expectations of themselves as high-impact educators and have developed strong collaborative practices within 2 communities of schools, one with a dedicated focus on Literacy and the other on Numeracy.

Our school enrolment of 246 students reflects an inclusive community of 10 mainstream classes and 3 Autism support classes.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Approval to teach special education and/or extensive experience and expertise in balancing exemplary classroom teaching practice with the complex leadership and management role of an Assistant Principal in a specialised support setting.

2. Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively with the school executive to lead, manage and implement the school’s strategic directions to improve current and future learning and wellbeing outcomes for students with specific needs.

3. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with families and allied health professionals to ensure reasonable adjustments are made that maximise wellbeing.

4. Demonstrated high-level collaborative leadership practices in developing and implementing differentiated learning programs designed to increase engagement of students with additional learning and support needs.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
