**Role**:
The Literacy Support Aide will work under the direction of the Leading Teacher-Student Support Services to improve the learning outcomes of identified students in the areas of Literacy. They will work with small groups of students to implement appropriate Literacy support that has been pre-planned for them. The Literacy Aide will collect assessment information for the Leading Teacher-Student Support Services to use to report on student outcomes. Relevant professional learning and support will be provided to the successful applicant.

An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.

**Responsibilities**:
The main duties to be performed by a Literacy Support Aide are to:

- Assist students on an individual or small group basis in literacy.
- Implement literacy support programs that have been planned by a teacher
- Assist with the communication between students and teachers, particularly the interpretation of instructions.
- Provide basic physical and emotional care for students and to build positive relationships with students
- Participate in team meetings and staff meetings as required.
- Collecting data as directed by the Leading Teacher-Student Support Services
- Participating in relevant professional learning to support the development of skills
- Other duties as directed by the Principal or Assistant Principals.
