About the role

About the role
Reporting to and working with the Board, the Chief Exec Other key responsibilities include identifying and delivering income generation opportunities, collaborating with others to promote advocacy through active communication and engagement, representing MAV and its members on various committees and panels, securing and maintaining funding, and managing the organisational resources to ensure best practice business management and governance including financial and HR policies, processes and procedures.
The Board recognise that this as a role will require highly developed executive leadership skills and experience, and a forward-thinking CEO to take this organisation with a great history and staff to expand further it’s impact and services.
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the overall management of the association to achieve the organisation’s objectives. This includes delivering upon the current strategic plan, while working with the board on future plans. This role will provide effective leadership to a team of approximately 9 staff while actively developing and maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders including funding partners, project delivery partners, sponsors and other organisations across the education sector.
About you
You will possess the capability to engage, persuade and influence to bring people, including members, on the journey and effect change according to MAV’s mission and vision. You will also be able to make decisions, identify gaps, find solutions and be capable of engaging and inspiring staff and connecting with partners, members and many other stakeholders.
You will be an experienced leader who can demonstrate excellent communication, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills. You will be an innovative thinker with a proactive approach that anticipates opportunities and leverages relationships for greater impact, while identifying and managing risk. You will demonstrate resilience and have a growth mindset that allows you to think outside of the box and find creative solutions.
Key Selection criteria
- Experience in a NFP or SMB managing organisational resources to ensure best practice business management including financial, HR, OHS, policies, processes and procedures.
- Highly developed executive leadership skills and experience, with demonstrated capacity for high level communication, reporting, strategic planning, and problem-solving.
- Demonstrated strong financial planning, reporting, and management ability.
- Experience in governance, including policy, procedures, statutory and charity requirements and reporting to a Board.
- Experience in a member-based organisation with an understanding of membership and community building approaches.
- Proven ability to identify and deliver income generation opportunities including funding from tenders, RFQ’s and with partners, while maintain profitability of core products.
- You must be an Australian citizen or able to work in Australia
