**ABOUT THE SECTION**

The Digital Information Management team supports digital transformation, good governance, efficiency, transparency and accountability within the Department of Finance. It does this by promoting, developing, implementing and managing effective information and records management innovations, policies and procedures for the department.

The team provides expert advice and a range of services including:

- Digital information and records management for both structured and unstructured information in Finance business systems.
- Translation of information and records management legislation and policies into effective business practice.
- Administration of Content Manager records management system for the Department’s physical file holdings.
- Classification, description, metadata, disposition and digitisation of corporate records.
- Recordkeeping assessment of Finance business systems, both current and prospective.
- Training for information and records management practices.
- Paper file management, including census, retrieval, storage, sentencing and disposal.
- Finance library services including research and collection management.

**ABOUT THE**
**OPPORTUNITY**

The Records Officer will work under routine direction against established priorities and procedures while exercising some autonomy. They will complete administrative support to ongoing business activities; provide routine information management advice on straightforward matters; work as part of a small dedicated team based in the Department’s records warehouse at Hume; administer Finance’s incoming mail services under clear procedures; undertake manual handing tasks; and support and maintain effective client and stakeholder relationships.

**Mandatory Duties include**:

- Undertake the routine creation, retrieval, movement, searching, digitisation and archiving of Commonwealth records in accordance with internal policy and instruction, under general supervision.
- Process data entry of records information in Finance’s records management system, Content Manager.
- Undertake manual handling duties, including handling standard archive boxes weighing no more than 16kg, and show proficiency in safe manual handling practices in a warehouse environment.
- Collect, process, digitise and distribute the Finance mail in accordance with internal procedures, under general supervision.
- Provide basic advice and support to clients and stakeholders as directed in accordance with internal procedures and policies.

**Desirable Duties include**:

- Drive a Commonwealth vehicle and undertake courier duties between Finance’s tenancies.
