As a Government Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for leading procurement activities across a wide range of categories, including general goods and services as well as information and communication technology. Your role will encompass the entire procurement lifecycle, from identifying needs and conducting market research to negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships. You will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to define requirements and ensure compliance with government regulations, while seeking opportunities to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies that align with organisational objectives and promote sustainable practices.
- Conduct thorough market analysis to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and ensure fair competition.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define specifications, evaluate bids, and select vendors for goods, services, and ICT solutions.
- Lead negotiations to secure favorable terms, prices, and conditions while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements throughout the procurement process.
- Monitor contract performance, manage vendor relationships, and address issues as they arise.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation in procurement processes.
- Prepare and present procurement reports, analyses, and recommendations to senior management.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in government procurement, with a focus on general goods, services, and ICT.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement regulations, policies, and best practices within the public sector.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
