**About the Business Unit**:
Victim Services, Support and Reform (VSSR) is a part of the Service Delivery Reform, Coordination and Workplace Safety Division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and is responsible for coordinating a suite of services for victims of crime including funding state-wide services to provide eligible victims with practical assistance, counselling and support through the justice system as well as operating the Victims of Crime Helpline (Helpline).

**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Victims of Crime Helpline, the role of the Victim Support Officer (VSO) is to provide informed and up-to-date advice, support and information about victim services and entitlements, and referrals to other services.

**Some of your duties will include**:

- Providing up-to-date advice on victim entitlements, support services and referral pathways to victims of crime and victims of family violence
- Conveying information clearly and accurately, responding to clients, stakeholders, and team members in a professional, sensitive, respectful, and empathetic manner.

A VSO is required to work flexibly over shifts between 7am to 11pm across 7 days per week including weekends and public holidays.

**About You**:

- An understanding of the victim support service system and associated legislation
- Experience in direct human service delivery where there are sensitive and complex needs, working from a trauma-informed perspective
- An understanding of how emotional responses can be expressed in work situations and the impact they may have on self or others. You will posess the ability to assess personal strengths and weakness using feedback from other team members.

**Qualifications/Requirements**:

- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive equivalent experience is desirable.
